Norwalk Hospital's new Pediatric Subspecialty Center was created through an agreement with Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center - the advanced care pediatric facility for Fairfield County, Connecticut and New York's Hudson Valley - and New York Medical College.
The new center brings additional pediatric cardiologists, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists and other specialists to Norwalk Hospital, making high-quality specialty care more accessible to Norwalk area families.
"Before the Center opened, parents would have to travel to New York or New Haven to see these specialists," said Norwalk Hospital Pediatrics Chief Vicki Smetak, M.D., who is also director of Norwalk Hospital's Pediatric Hospitalist Program. "We're excited about the unique opportunity that the partnership with Maria Fareri Children's Hospital gives us to serve the community and to meet a definite need. Having all these specialists in one central location also makes it easier for parents to schedule convenient appointments when more than one specialist is needed."
