The Regional Perinatal Center (RPC) Program [PDF] at Westchester Medical Center is committed to working with the New York State Department of Health in formulating an infrastructure for quality improvement to enhance integration of the combined services of our regional hospitals and to accomplish the goal of improving the health outcomes of the women and babies we serve in the Lower Hudson Valley. Our catchment area encompasses a 7 county region containing our affiliate hospitals.

Our RPC program at WMC includes the following priorities:

  • QA/QI Activities
Quarterly on-site quality of care meetings include the analysis of statistical perinatal data, review of serious adverse perinatal events, outreach & educational activities, review of incoming and return neonatal and obstetrical transports and issues, individual case reviews, the development and implementation of best practices, and pertinent perinatal network activities as well as public health resources within the region.
  • Statewide Perinatal Data System (SPDS)
Data collection and assessment utilizing the statewide perinatal data base system and other internal and external data resources to identify new and emerging trends and issues in perinatal care, to drive quality improvement activities, and to provide data driven benchmarks for current and future perinatal care.
  • Regional Perinatal Forum (RPF)
In collaboration with our two Perinatal Networks the Lower Hudson Valley Perinatal Network and the Maternal Infant Services Network we convene with community stakeholders as an RPF Steering Committee in the ongoing development of a Regional Action Plan and in activities to implement and evaluate its goals and objectives (i.e. mini-grants). We develop and sponsor an Annual Regional Perinatal Forum Conference that addresses perinatal public health issues in our region.
